The first wash after a hair transplant is a very important process. You should wash your hair following the below instructions for a smooth healing and the best results. Even we explain the whole process in details at the clinic, some patients may prefer reading it one more time before starting the first wash after hair transplant.
When to Do the First Wash After Hair Transplant Surgery?
The first wash after the hair transplant has to be done 3 days after the surgery. We already make a medical dress one day after the surgery. We pass the 2nd day after the surgery and then wash the hair for the first time 3 days after the hair transplant. So, the schedule is as in below:
D-Day Hair Transplant
Day 1 – Medical Dress
Day 2- Off Day
Day 3 – First Wash After Hair Transplant
How to Do the First Wash After Hair Transplantation?
First of all, if the patient is still in Istanbul, we make the first wash at the clinic by our professional staff. However, some patients do not have enough time for this. As a result, they need to do it at home by their own. That is why we have prepared a detailed explanation about how to wash the hair after the surgery.
Preparation
Please prepare the lotion and shampoo which we provide you for use at early post operation term. These products are designed to protect your scalp and support the healing process after the hair transplant. Make sure that you wash your hair with warm water. This is very important. The water should not be very hot nor cold.
Apply the Lotion
Apply the lotion to hair transplanted area first. Please apply the lotion very carefully with softly vertical touches.
Then spread the lotion on your palm first and then apply it to your donor area by stroking from up to down.
Wait 45 minutes
After applying the lotion both to the transplanted area and the donor area, please wait 45 minutes.
Rinse Carefully
Please shed the lotion with warm water first. Make sure that the stream of the water is not high. Otherwise, the transplanted hair can be affected. Rinse your head completely before the shampoo.
Apply the Shampoo Gently
Apply the shampoo onto the hair transplanted area first and then gently wash your hair with light and soft touches.
Then you can apply the shampoo to the donor area. The process is same with applying the lotion to the donor area stroking from up to down.
Final Rinse
Rinse thoroughly with plenty of warm water until all the shampoo is removed. Please make sure that the water stream is not very hard at this stage too and be gently while touching the transplanted area and the donor area.
Drying the Hair
The best thing for drying the hair is cool air. Many hair dryers have cool air mode. If your hair dryer does not have cool air setting then you may use a kitchen towel (paper towel). Make sure you don’t press strongly.
Repeat the Same Process During 7 Days
